Minimally invasive options are easier on you.

LaparoscopyAt Four Seasons Women’s Health, our physicians offer you the most advanced, minimally invasive laparoscopic surgical procedures. This results in a speedy recovery and allows you to get you back to your active life. Laparoscopy involves inserting a small camera into the abdomen using a small incision at the navel. Images from the camera are displayed on a television screen so that the surgeon can easily see the surgical area. Laparoscopy can be used to diagnose and potentially treat a problem.  In gynecology, these conditions include pelvic pain, infertility, ovarian cysts and ectopic pregnancy.  Performing a procedure laparoscopically generally avoids a large abdominal incision, dramatically reducing your postsurgical discomfort..

The procedures our physicians perform laparoscopically include:

  • Laparoscopic supracervical hysterectomy
  • Laparoscopic-assisted vaginal hysterectomy
  • Total laparoscopic hysterectomy
  • Tubal sterilization
  • Endometriosis treatment
  • Removal of ovarian cysts/masses

Benefits to laparoscopy include smaller incisions, shorter hospital stay and shorter recovery. Many procedures can be performed as an outpatient. Recovery time is shorter than with larger procedures. Talk to your doctor about the recommended recovery time for your procedure. As with all surgical procedures, there are potential risks and complications. Please discuss these with your doctor.
